Country Music Hall of Famer Vince Gill will bring his music and his big heart to Greenville, SC when he plays a benefit concert at the BiLo Center on April 19, 2009. The concert's proceeds will benefit The Mac Foundation, whose mission is to "create opportunities for children and young adults through sports, the arts, and extra-curricular activities, intent on keeping their minds and bodies focused on positive alternatives to the temptations of life."
The foundation was started by parents Ronnie and Vickie Allen after their 12-year-old son, McGregor "Mac" Douglas Allen passed away suddenly in the fall of 2006. Since its inception, the foundation has made donations to the Salvation Army (including the Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club of Greenville County and the Salvation Army Soccer Club), Performance QSA Outreach Program, YMCA Camp Greenville, and CESA Top Soccer Program (a soccer program for handicapped children). This year's event will benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities, Greenville Family Partnership, CESA Top Soccer, and Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club.
Billed as an "Evening With Vince Gill," the concert will be an acoustic event in which Gill will be accompanied by pianist Pete Wasner, percussionist Billy Thomas and bassist Mike Bub. Gill will perform an array of his most popular songs and will entertain the audience with commentary that displays both his genuine warmth for people and his hilarious sense of humor. One of the most beloved and respected performers in American music, Gill was inducted last year into the Country Music Hall of Fame. He is a long-time member of the Grand Ole Opry and winner of 20 Grammy awards. Show time is April 19th 6:30pm. Regular tickets are $29 and Premium tickets $39 and they will go on-sale Friday, March 13 at 10am and are available at the Crown Nissan Ticket Office at the BI-LO Center, all Ticketmaster outlets, online at http://www.ticketmaster.com/, or charge by phone at (864) 233-2525.
