The Greenville based, six-piece band The Work return to The Handlebar again for their 8th Annual Christmas Jam Benefit Show, an Upstate tradition since 2002. This Feature Holiday Event will take place on Saturday, December 19, 2009 at The Handlebar in Greenville, SC and all proceeds raised go to benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Carolinas, a “home away from home for families of critically ill children receiving treatment at area hospitals.”

The concert will feature 3 sets of music by The Work, who will be joined throughout the evening by a veritable treasure trove of guest musicians. This year’s line-up includes such world renowned musicians as: the legendary organist Ike Stubblefeild, Yonrico Scott (Derek Trucks Band, Yonrico Scott Band), Bobby Lee Rodgers (The Codetalkers, Herring/Rogers/Sipe Project), and many more to be announced. Also joining this year will be several regional & local musicians including, but not limited to Shane Pruitt, Matt Jennings, Shannon Hoover, and Doug Jones, plus many others. As well, there will be special surprise guest musicians making appearances during Christmas Jam. Check back online for current additions to the line-up.

Past guest musicians have included members of Derek Trucks Band, Drive by Truckers, Marshal Tucker Band, The Codetalkers, Tracy Lawrence Band, Blueground Undergrass, Dubconscious, Entropy, Yo' Momma's Big Fat Booty Band, plus many, many others.

Included in this year’s event will be our ever popular silent auction with items such as a signed guitar by all musicians playing in The Work’s Christmas Jam, a ceramic piece by renowned ceramicist Warner Hyde, a 3 night stay at Woodlands Pet Resort, as well as a host of other items. (Details on all auction items can be found online.)

In its 7 years of operation, The Work’s Christmas Jam has raised nearly $30,000 for local charities.
